Get in Touch

Cheboygan County Released Inmates is a private reference, not a government office. It cannot confirm custody or release, pull an official booking record, post bond, or cause anyone to be released. Direct those requests to the public office that holds the record or controls the custody decision.

Choose the Official Record Holder

Several agencies at the 870 South Main government complex handle different parts of a Cheboygan case. A shared address does not create a shared record counter. Use the contact that matches the custody system and the kind of proof needed.

The county does not publish general Sheriff’s Office or jail public counter hours in the research sources. Call before visiting. The jail can address present local custody questions, while an existing booking and release transaction is the strongest durable record of a local exit or transfer.

Sheriff FOIA Requests

Use the Sheriff’s Department route on the Cheboygan County FOIA page. A request may use the county form or another sufficiently descriptive writing, including a letter, fax, or email. Mark it “FOIA” or “FOIA Request.” It may be delivered or mailed to the Sheriff’s Department address above, faxed to 231-627-8880, or sent through the sheriff contact listed in the county material.

Ask for existing records and identify the person, booking, and date range. Useful fields can include the release date and time, disposition or reason, and receiving agency or transfer field. The sheriff’s summary describes a five-business-day response period and one possible ten-business-day extension. Fax or email requests are treated as received on the next business day. If an estimated fee exceeds $50, a 50 percent deposit may be required. No flat fee for a release record or booking photograph is published.

The local field office verifies MDOC felony parole or probation issues. Its public directory does not state office hours. For a state-prison profile, use the Michigan OTIS offender search. Send MDOC public-record requests to MDOC-FOIA@michigan.gov. The agency lists MDOC-Records_Retention@michigan.gov for past-prisoner records up to six years after release.

The Michigan Parole Board publishes 517-373-0270 and Parole-Board-Staff@michigan.gov. Its stated business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. A Board decision does not prove the exact time a prison release occurred.

Where Each Question Goes

The fastest route starts with the event or record, not with a broad request to every office:
